INTRODUCTION

The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is responsible for Procurement, Warehousing, Sales and Distribution of adequate, affordable and approved and quality medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Malawi.

CMST is seeking to recruit transformative and visionary persons to support it to effectively fulfill its mandate across its establishments in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre as follows:

WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

Job Title: Warehouse Assistant
Job Grade: MS9
Location: Various Duty Stations
Responsible to : Senior Warehouse Assistant (MS7)
No. of Positions : Three (3)

Purpose of the Job

To support warehouse operations by ensuring cleanliness of the warehouse, accurate picking, assembling, packaging and labelling of medicines and medical supplies in accordance with approved pick lists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Picking, assembling, packaging and labelling scheduled orders in accordance approved pick lists.
  • Loading, offloading, stacking and racking medicines and medical supplies in warehouse locations.
  • Reporting damaged, expired, short-dated or incorrectly stored stock to supervisors.
  • Maintaining a high level of stock security within the warehouse.
  • Undertaking batching of received stock in accordance with established warehouse procedures.
  • Ensuring that pallet labels are correctly maintained on all products and storage locations.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of warehouse facilities, attached offices, equipment and fittings at all times.
  • Operating warehouse equipment and tools sately as required.
  • Ensuring products are stacked and stored in accordance with approved warehouse procedures and SOPs.
  • Picking and assembling medicines and medical supplies as directed by Pharmacists and warehouse supervisors.
  • Packaging assembled medicines and medical supplies and ensuring clear and accurate labelling.
  • Loading and offloading products for deliveries, transfers and stock movements.
  • Operating forklifts safely when authorised and required to do so.
  • Reporting forklift defects and maintenance requirements to supervisors.
  • Promoting safety and protecting fellow workers during warehouse operations.
  • Supporting stock-taking and inventory verification exercises as required.

Job and Person Specifications

Qualifications

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.

Experience

• A minimum of one (1) years relevant work experience.
