Impact Relief is a local Christian organisation that is working to equip communities to protect children, strengthen families, build resilient livelihoods and contribute to improved health and wellbeing of people in Malawi. Impact Relief invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:
Job Title: Finance Officer (1)
Reports to: Grants Accountant
Direct reportees: N/A
Location: Lilongwe
Role Summary
Reporting to the Grants Accountant, the Finance Officer is responsible for providing accurate and timely reports, budget monitoring and preparing payments for all project transactions.
Specific Functions
- Documents review to ascertain the availability of budget, supporting documents, compliance with Impact Relief policies and donor requirements before payments are made
- Providing guidance and support to all project staff on finance matters.
- Ensure expenditure at the district is authorised, within budget and in line with organisation policies.
- Regular checking of petty cash expenses for Mzimba, Dowa and Salima districts
- Maintaining the inventory and fixed asset registers for Mzimba, Dowa and Salima districts.
- Banking and documenting all transactions in line with Impact Relief Finance Manual.
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Supporting the institutional and project audit process.
- Timely preparation of monthly and quarterly grant reports.
- Timely preparation of donor financial reports
- Supporting project staff on direct payments to participants and reconciliation of project advances
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Accounting.
- 3 years of related experience, preferably in NGO set up.
- Experience in the use of quick books.
- High-level computer skills and experience using the following: MS Excel, MS Word.
- Strong communication skills in both English and local languages.
- Commitment to Impact Relief values.
