VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: DRIVER (GRADE RA11)

The Roads Authority (RA) was created by the Roads Act No. 3 of 2006 to ensure that public roads are constructed, maintained or rehabilitated at all times; and to advise the Minister, and where appropriate, the Minister responsible for Local Government on the preparation and efficient and effective implementation of the Annual National Roads Programme.

The Roads Authority (RA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill five vacant positions of Driver tenable at Head Office in Lilongwe, Regional Office Centre in Lilongwe and Regional Office South in Blantyre, respectively.

The role of the Driver is to transport RA Staff, parcels and goods.

The Driver reports to the Corporate Services Supervisor and is specifically responsible for:-

  1. Drive staff on official duties.
  2. Collecting and delivering company goods, equipment and mail.
  3. Checking the vehicle and carrying out minor maintenance to ensure that the vehicle is in roadworthy condition.
  4. Updating log book on daily basis.
  5. Checking validity of vehicle documents such as COF, Insurance etc. and report for timely renewal.
  6. Reporting needs for service or major faults.
  7. Ensuring that the vehicle is clean.

The desired candidate must have the following qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:-

  1. Malawi School Certificate of Education and a valid Driving License with good track record
  2. At least 3 years’ working experience in a reputable organization.
  3. Ability to work in a team environment.
  4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
