ASSISTANT DEPOT MANAGER (BLANTYRE)
Puma Energy Malawi Limited is an associate company of Puma Energy Group, with its headquarters in Switzerland and is jointly owned by Press Corporation Plc and Puma Energy: It operates as an oil marketing company in Malawi and its activities in the fuels downstream sector include the supply, storage and transportation of petroleum products.
We are currently hiring for the following position:
Assistant Depot Manager (Blantyre)
Purpose of the position
The Assistant Depot Manager (ADM) is responsible for all storage and handling operations and bulk vehicle delivery services at the depot. He/she is to maintain the depot operations ensuring that products sold are handled, stored and delivered meeting the required standards, and that operations facilities conform to all the latest Puma Energy Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards, local legislation and Safety System SAPS requirements, ensuring that the depot is managed efficiently and safely.
Functions
- Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and Compliance
- Acts as the depot HSSE Coordinator and accountable for all HSSE aspects on the operation in accordance with the PUMA HSSE Policy, operations procedures, Internal Controls, SAPS Manual and Legislated standards.
- Ensures that the depot meets all its HSSE Objectives and depot maintenance requirements.
Storage and handling /stock management of 2 Blantyre Depots
- Directs the storage and handling Team at the Depot on HSSE to ensure adherence to legislation and HSSE Puma policy
- Ensures that bulk fuel receipts (rail or road) and storage at the depot/terminal are carried out according to requirements of Puma Operating Procedures and that all critical task procedures are consistently and fully adhered to.
- Manages product loss/gain during receipt and storage with object of keeping in-transit and storage loss/gain within tolerance. Investigate and report on any out of variance stock losses/gains.
Vehicle Delivery Services
- Drives actual performance versus transport plan through key performance indicators, having periodic reviews and coaching with Bulk Vehicle Drivers (BVOs) to optimise results or to effect consequences where needed
- Encourages a culture of operational excellence within secondary transport operations by positively influencing key indicators in transport efficiency, HSSE and customer satisfaction towards “best in class”
- Ensures full compliance with PUMA policy, controls & standards, as well as legal requirements
People Management
- Personal Leadership – sets high personal standards, leads by example, ensures tollow through. and demonstrates commitment to building a motivated workforce.
- Ensures there are adequate resources to operate and maintain the site, including the preparation and maintenance of shift and leave schedules, to ensure the most efficient use of Depot Operators and BVOs for efficient service delivery
Fixed and mobile plant Maintenance.
- Accountable for the maintenance of all equipment in the depot. This includes ensuring there are appropriate site specific preventative maintenance schedules in place for all equipment and that these are current.
- Responsible for ensuring that sufficient spare-parts for continuity of operation are available and properly stored, and that replenishment orders are timeously made.
The candidate should have the following education and experience:
- A degree in a technical field from a recognised institution 5 years fuel storage and handling experience is highly desirable
- Ability to use basic computer packages, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning system or fuel storage system (Navision, Terminal Management System etc) Is an advantage
- Must be able to handle a busy customer facing environment and manage external stakeholders
