  1. RECEPTIONIST (3 POSITIONS)

The Receptionist position is within the Front Office Department and reports directly to the Front Office Supervisor. The successful candidates will be deployed across MMK Hotels’ operations, with one (1) position based in Mchinji and two (2) positions based in Lilongwe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome all guests in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner, ensuring efficient check-in and check-out processes while creating a positive first impression of MMK Hotels.
  • Receive, process, and confirm room reservations through telephone, email, online booking platforms, and walk-in enquiries, ensuring all guest information is accurately captured in the hotel management system.
  • Handle guest enquiries, requests, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally, resolving issues within delegated authority and escalating complex matters to the Front Office Supervisor where necessary.
  • Process guest payments, prepare invoices and receipts, reconcile daily cash and electronic transactions, and maintain accurate financial and administrative records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with the Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and Security departments to ensure rooms are ready for occupancy and guest requests are attended to efficiently.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and professional appearance of the reception area while safeguarding confidential guest information and ensuring compliance with hotel policies and service standards.
  • Prepare daily operational reports, maintain accurate occupancy records, support front office administrative activities, and perform any other duties assigned by the Front Office Supervisor to facilitate efficient hotel operations.

Qualifications, Experiences and Competences

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, Front Office Operations, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of relevant work experience in a hotel, lodge, or other hospitality establishment.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must be computer literate and able to use basic office applications.
  • Applicants must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Knowledge of hotel reservation systems or property management systems will be an added advantage.
  • Applicants must be well-groomed, attentive to detail, capable of working under pressure, and willing to work shifts.
  1. HOUSEKEEPER (2 POSITIONS)

The position of Housekeeper falls under the Housekeeping Department and reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor. The duty station for this position is Mchinji, where two (2) positions are available

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, sanitise, and prepare guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas in accordance with MMK Hotels’ housekeeping standards, ensuring a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests.
  • Replace bed linen, towels, toiletries, and other guest amenities, ensuring all rooms are fully stocked and prepared before guest arrival and throughout their stay.
  • Inspect assigned rooms and facilities to identify maintenance defects, damaged furniture, or safety hazards, and promptly report them to the Housekeeping Supervisor for corrective action.
  • Properly operate, clean, and store housekeeping equipment, cleaning materials, and chemicals while adhering to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Handle lost and found property in accordance with established hotel procedures, maintaining accurate records and ensuring the safekeeping of guests’ belongings.
  • Support laundry operations by sorting, washing, ironing, folding, and distributing linen and uniforms as required to maintain uninterrupted housekeeping services.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, professionalism, and teamwork while performing any additional housekeeping duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor to support efficient hotel operations.

Qualifications, Experiences and Competences

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Certificate in Housekeeping, Hospitality Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of practical experience in housekeeping within a hotel, lodge, guest house, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a high level of cleanliness and attention to detail.
  • Applicants must be physically fit and capable of performing housekeeping duties effectively.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Applicants must demonstrate commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
  1. CHEF (3 POSITIONS)

The position of Chef falls under the Kitchen Department and reports directly to the Head Chef. The duty stations for this position are Mchinji and Lilongwe, where three (3) positions are available, comprising of two (2) positions at Mchinji and one (1) position Lilongwe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality meals in accordance with approved recipes, menu specifications, and guest expectations while maintaining consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Plan daily food preparation activities, organise kitchen operations efficiently, and ensure that meals are prepared and served within the required timeframes to support excellent customer service.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness in compliance with applicable health regulations and MMK Hotels’ operating procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels, receive and inspect food supplies, ensure proper storage and stock rotation, and minimise food wastage through effective portion control and responsible use of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and the preparation of special meals for conferences, functions, and guests with specific dietary requirements.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations are clean, functional, and properly maintained, promptly reporting faults or maintenance requirements to the Head Chef.
  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff such as trainees where assigned, promote teamwork and continuous improvement within the kitchen, and perform any other duties delegated by the Head Chef to achieve departmental objectives.

Qualifications, Experiences and Competences

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Certificate in Food Production, Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, Hospitality Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants must have at least two (2) years of relevant experience in a hotel, restaurant, lodge, or commercial kitchen.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated ability to prepare both local and international cuisine.
  • Applicants must possess sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, stock control, and kitchen operations.
  • Applicants must demonstrate creativity, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Applicants must be committed to producing high-quality meals and maintaining professional kitchen standards.
  • Applicants must be able to work effectively within a team environment.
  1. WAITER/WAITRESS (4 POSITIONS)

The position of Waiter/Waitress falls under the Food and Beverage Department and reports directly to the Food and Beverage Supervisor. The duty stations for this position are Mchinji and Mafumu, where four (4) positions are available, comprising of three (3) positions at Mchinji and one (1) position in Lilongwe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests warmly, escort them to their tables where applicable, present menus professionally, and provide accurate information on menu items, promotions, and daily specials to enhance the dining experience.
  • Receive and accurately record food and beverage orders, communicate orders promptly to the kitchen and bar, and ensure that meals are served correctly, efficiently, and within established service standards.
  • Monitor guests throughout their dining experience, respond promptly to requests, resolve minor concerns professionally, and escalate unresolved issues to the Restaurant Supervisor where necessary.
  • Prepare dining areas before service by arranging tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, glassware, and other dining equipment to meet the hotel’s presentation and hygiene standards.
  • Clear tables after service, maintain cleanliness of the restaurant and service stations, and ensure all dining equipment is properly cleaned and stored after each service period.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of customer service, professionalism, teamwork, and personal grooming while complying with food safety and hygiene requirements and performing any other duties assigned by the Restaurant Supervisor.

Qualifications, Experiences and Competences

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Certificate in Food and Beverage Service, Hospitality Management, Hotel Operations, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of relevant work experience in a hotel, restaurant, lodge, or similar hospitality establishment.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude when interacting with guests.
  • Applicants must be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Applicants must possess good attention to detail and maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
