VACANCY

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide Airport Ground Handling and Travel Services to airlines and the travelling public at Chileka and Kamuzu International Airports. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at Chileka and Kamuzu International Airport. 

Post: Ramp Operator (LH 9)

Responsible to:                    Head Ramp Operator

Responsible for:                   None

Purpose:                             To ensure smooth operations at the ramp.

Main Duties:

  • Attend briefing meetings before aircraft arrival and debriefing after departure.
  • Check and inspect GSE before use.
  • Clean GSE before use
  • Position loading and other equipment at aircraft
  • Deploy guidelines and safety rails on loading and other applicable equipment.
  • Remove, loading and other equipment from aircraft.
  • Operate in-plane loading system while at aircraft.
  • Loading/offloading aircraft
  • Tow non-motorized GSE to a position near and away from aircraft
  • Collect and deliver cargo and mail from Air Cargo
  • Collect and deliver baggage from Baggage Sorting Area to aircraft and vice versa.
  • Collect foreign object debris (FOD)
  • Ensure safety and security in all ramp driving operations.
  • Report on hazards and safety risks during day-to-day ramp operations

 Education Qualification

Minimum of MSCE with Clean Driving License Class C1. Those with a valid Defensive Driving Certificate will have an added advantage.

Work Experience

At least two (2) years’ driving experience.
