INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide to
provide passenger, ramp and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, travel & tour and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified internal candidates to fill the following vacant positions at Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend briefing and debriefing meetings before and after flight arrival and departure
- Prepare check in counters, including displaying boards
- Check in passengers and tag their baggage according to airline standards
- Issue a boarding pass to each seated passenger during check in process
- Weigh and tag passenger carry on/ hand baggage to comply with standard hand baggage weight of customer airline
- Ensure safety and security in all Passenger Handling operations/activities
- Detect, identify and control dangerous goods carried by passengers or crew in their checked in or cabin baggage
- Detect and address passengers with suspected communicable diseases
- Prohibit carriage of firearms in aircraft cabin
- Check for and collect from passengers oversized and overweight cabin baggage at boarding gate
- Weigh and tag overweight and oversized baggage collected for hold loading
- Pass to load control weight of overweight and oversized baggage collected at boarding gate
- Inform load control of duty-free goods loaded into aircraft hold for load control purposes
- Identify and deny boarding passengers who are under influence of alcohol
- Meet and dispatch flights as assigned by supervisor
- Make announcements as required by customer airline
- Complete bus trip forms, wheelchair forms and other forms as required
- Report hazards and safety risks during day-to-day passenger services operations.
Education Qualification
Minimum of a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism from NCHE accredited institution. A Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
Two years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry or an Airport set up.
