Logistics Superintendent
Lotus Africa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated individual to the post of Logistics Superintendent at Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga.
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to coordinate and control the logistics function at Kayelekera Uranium Mine, with primary focus on safe, compliant and timeous outbound uranium product logistics, and secondary oversight of inbound freight and site logistics. The Logistics Superintendent ensures that shipments, sample movements, permits, customs, documentation, service providers, tracking and logistics cost controls are properly managed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate end-to-end outbound logistics for uranium product shipments, from shipment readiness through to delivery confirmation.
- Ensure logistics activities comply with safety, environmental, statutory, dangerous goods, radiation safety, customs and site requirements.
- Control export documentation, permits, customs requirements, shipment records and delivery confirmation for product and sample movements.
- Coordinate with internal departments, service providers, clearing agents, transporters and other logistics stakeholders.
- Oversee inbound freight movements for goods, equipment, spares, reagents and other critical site requirements.
- Maintain logistics trackers and status reports covering shipment progress, documentation, blockers, risks, costs and required decisions.
- Supervise logistics personnel, including work allocation, follow-up, process discipline and knowledge transfers.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Proven logistics experience in mining, chemicals, heavy industry, dangerous goods, crossborder freight, freight forwarding, clearing or similar operational environments.
- Experience coordinating complex logistics movements across internal departments and external service providers.
- Good understanding of export documentation, customs processes, freight forwarding, clearing, port operations, shipment tracking and international transport requirements.
- Experience with dangerous goods logistics, radioactive material transport, Class 7 movements or African cross-border logistics will be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, purchase orders, goods receipting, invoice follow-up and logistics cost control.
- Strong Excel/tracker, reporting and document control capability, with high attention to detail.
- A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
