Lotus (Africa) Limited is a leading Africa-focused advanced uranium company with significant scale and resources. The Company holds an 85% interest in the Kayerekera Uranium Project in Karonga, Malawi. Lotus is committed to generating value for its shareholders, customers, and communities where it operates. The Company is situated in Karonga, Malawi and has its headquarters in Perth, Australia. Lotus will be undertaking refurbishment and maintenance of the process plant and other facilities in preparation for production to commence in the near future.
Lotus (Africa) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified, energetic, and self-motivated Malawian nationals to join its team at Kayelekera Mine in Karonga District in the position below:
JOB PURPOSE
The HR Superintendent will support and oversee key human resource functions, ensuring compliance with Malawi’s labor laws, assisting in workforce planning, and fostering a positive industrial relations climate. The role will also focus on payroll administration, employee engagement, training, and HR operational support.
REPORTING TO:
Commercial and Finance Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee employee relations, including industrial relations, employee well-being, communication and compliance with labour laws.
- Workforce planning and HR administration, ensuring labor availability, staffing processes, and compliance with employment conditions.
- Oversee the monthly payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Coordinate training and development programs, including performance management, career development, and localization reporting.
- Promote open communication within the workplace and assist in resolving employee concerns.
- Assist in implementing and ensuring compliance with HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support health, safety, and environmental policies as per company and site-specific regulations.
- Carry out other duties as required by the Commercial and Finance Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Human Resources Management, Sociology, Psychology/Industrial Psychology, or relevant qualification from accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Human Resources, including staffing, labor relations, and HR administration.
- Experience working in Africa or a developing country with a focus on employee training and development.
- Previous experience in mining operations or mineral processing in a developing country is an advantage.
