Ekhaya Meats a subsidiary of Ekhaya Group of Companies, a fast growing meat company in
Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant
position:

GENERAL MANAGER

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager

Tenable in Blantyre. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the company from production, processing, distribution and sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand market presence and increase
    revenue streams.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, and other key
    stakeholders.
  • Lead market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences,
    and competitive strategies.
  • Develop and implement innovative business strategies to drive growth and enhance
    profitability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute business development
    initiatives effectively.
  • Supervise production, processing, packaging and logistics to ensure efficiency and
    quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supply chain management.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
  • Control costs and improve profitability across departments.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team including production staff, sales personnel and admin
    staff.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, distributors and suppliers.
  • Handle major client negotiations and resolve significant issues or complaints.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proven track record of 5-10 years in business development, preferably in the FMCG or retail sector / Meat Industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset
  • Experience in budgeting, sales strategy, and supply chain management.
