Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC)

A. INTRODUCTION

The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) is a statutory corporation established under the Investment and Export Promotion Act of 2024. MITC is mandated to oromote and facilitate investment, exports promotion and facilitation, establishment of industrial parks and special economic zones to spur industrial growth. MITC also provides one-stop investment and trade facilitation services aimed at improving the ease of doing business in Malawi and supporting sustainable economic growth.

MITC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and result-oriented Malawian professionals to fill the following Director-level positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe on a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract.

Who should apply

MITC is looking for young to middle aged, dynamic and passionate, self starter candidates with hands on experience in local, regional and international trade and investment. The candidates should be able to interface with Chambers of Commerce and other business support institutions of various countries. They should be conversant with regional and international trade and investment protocols with strong negotiation skills.

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE (MITC2)

Reporting to : The Chief Executive Officer

Job Purpose

To provide strategic leadership in financial management, administration, human resources, procurement, and institutional support services in accordance with public finance and corporate governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance and Administration Department and oversee institutional support services.
  • Develop and implement sound financial management, budgeting, accounting, procurement, and administrative systems.
  • Coordinate preparation and implementation of annual budgets and financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements, and internal controls.
  • Oversee procurement, asset management, transport, stores, and office administration functions.
  • Coordinate human resource management, recruitment, staff welfare, payroll, and performance management systems.
  • Support development and implementation of institutional policies and operational procedures.
  • Prepare management and Board financial reports and coordinate external audits.
  • Supervise departmental staff and promote high performance and accountability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant professional experience, including at least five (5) years at senior management level.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, procurement, and corporate governance systems.

Appointment and Remuneration

The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance based contract for a period of three (3) years subject to renewal on satisfactory performance
