POSITION OF DRIVERS

The Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA) was established in Malawi through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the construction industry in Malawi.

The Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Drivers to fill the vacant positions in its Establishment tenable at all the Head Office and the Regional Offices based in Blantyre and Mzuzu.

Reporting to the Human Resources & Administration Officer, the Driver will drive official motor vehicles to transport CIRA staff, visitors, documents and goods in accordance with CIRA Policies and Procedures. S/he will also be responsible for providing other office support services. Main responsibilities will include the following:

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Driving CIRA vehicles including staff, senior executive, visitors and stakeholders; ensuring precautionary measures for passengers and vehicles safety are adhered to.
  • Responsible for movement of goods, collection and delivery of parcels/ mails etc. to/from offices.
  • Ensure effective performance of Authority vehicles by carrying out day-to-day vehicle checks including oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc.
  • Reporting of maintenance faults to supervisor as per laid down procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle log book regularly by logging details of each trip including mileage, fuel consumption, destination and activities.
  • Reporting of accident/incidents to the supervisor and Traffic Police as guided by the policy and procedures.
  • Adherence to traffic rules and regulations on speed limits, vehicle fitness and road worthiness as provided for in the Laws of Malawi.
  • Ensure Certificate of Fitness (COF), Road Tax, Insurance and driving licence are always valid.
  • Ensure availability of security gadgets and vehicle tools on cars assigned or being used
  • Ensure fuel receipts are presented to Cashier’s office, soon after refueling or soon after getting back to the office after a trip and that such fuel is reflected on the vehicle log sheet.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

This position requires a mature, knowledgeable, dedicated, and dependable person. The successful candidate should:

  • Be holder of a full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
  • Possess a valid Chauffer Certificate and Defensive Driving Licence
  • Have Three year’s work experience working experience in a related field
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Be able to produce simple reports
  • Those with basic computer knowledge in excel and word will have an added advantage
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision and sometimes at odd hours.
