Operations Manager-Green Climate Fund project

Save the Children

The Opportunity

Save the Children is seeking a highly organised and results-driven Operations Coordinator – GCF Supported Programme to support the effective delivery of a climate resilience programme implemented under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) initiative.

The role will focus on strengthening operational efficiency, financial tracking, stakeholder coordination, and risk management to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project activities at district and national levels. The postholder will work closely with District Coordinators, government officials, and the GCF Programme Management Unit (PMU) to ensure smooth implementation of programme activities.

The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for developing and operationalising detailed implementation workplans, tracking progress through operational dashboards, and identifying and resolving bottlenecks that may delay delivery. The role will also support coordination across teams to ensure alignment and efficient execution of activities.

In addition, the postholder will support financial acceleration by monitoring budget utilisation, ensuring alignment of expenditures with implementation plans in collaboration with the GCF Finance Manager, and supporting procurement and contracting processes alongside the Supply Chain Coordinator.

The role will also strengthen stakeholder coordination at field level, ensuring effective communication, follow-up, and escalation mechanisms with government implementing partners. A key part of the role will be identifying operational risks and supporting mitigation measures in collaboration with senior management and the GCF PMU.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations professional with strong coordination and problem-solving skills to contribute to a high-impact climate resilience programme that requires strong delivery systems and efficient operational management.

The successful candidate is expected to be available with immediate effect to assume duty.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

To be successful, you will bring/have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration (BBA), or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in NGO programme operations and delivery
  • Strong experience in leading complex programme operations in development or humanitarian settings
  • Proven crisis management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to track performance and identify operational gaps
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong risk management experience within programme implementation

Desirable:

  • Experience in budget management and financial tracking
  • Good understanding of government systems and coordination structures
  • Strong stakeholder coordination experience
