CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR DISTRICT OFFICERS

1.0 BACKGROUND

Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE), as the host organization for the Malawi Accelerator Programme (MAP) on behalf of Girls Not Brides Malawi, is leading efforts to accelerate action to end child marriage in Malawi. Under this programme, CYECE seeks to recruit qualified and motivated individuals to support the implementation at district level.

2.0 DISTRICT OFFICER

CYECE aims to recruit two (2) District Officers to be based in Mzimba and Machinga districts. The selected candidates will support coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities at district level.

3.0 ROLE OF DISTRICT OFFICER

The District Officer will:

  • Support implementation of the Malawi Accelerator Programme at district level
  • Mobilize communities and facilitate dialogue to address harmful cultural practices
  • Engage traditional, religious, and community leaders to promote social change
  • Support advocacy efforts and dissemination of laws related to child marriage
  • Facilitate safe spaces and mentorship programmes for girls
  • Support youth led and girl led advocacy initiatives
  • Collaborate with district stakeholders including government and NGOs
  • Document success stories, case studies, and programme results
  • Contribute to data collection, reporting, and learning.

4.0 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in programme implementation
  • Experience working with communities and stakeholders at district level
  • Knowledge of child protection, gender, and development issues
  • Strong facilitation, coordination, and communication skills

  • Report writing and documentation skills
  • Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning
  • Passion for ending child marriage and empowering girls

6.0 APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

  1. A motivation letter (not more than 300 words) explaining why they are motivated to apply, their suitability for the role, any relevant experience, and how they intend to contribute to ending child marriages.
  2. Curriculum vitae outlining the applicants’ academic qualifications, experience and three traceable referees.
  3. Copies of certificates
  4. National ID
