Terms of Reference (TORs) for Installation of Water Meters on 100 Afridev Hand pump Boreholes for Water Carbon Project in Dowa District

Background

Self Help Africa (SHA) Malawi is an international non-governmental organisation working to create opportunities for lasting improvement in peoples’ lives. We work in partnership with others to support a range of livelihoods and food security, WASH and health, sustainable energy and gender equality programmes reaching over 1,000,000 people a year across Malawi. Globally, we work in nine countries across Africa, Asia and South America, and Malawi programme is by far and away our largest and most established country programme. SHA currently operates in 17 districts in Malawi, supporting 24 on-going projects tackling the global challenges in progressive and innovative ways.

Self Help Africa is implementing a water carbon project in Dowa district to sustain functionality of boreholes. The Gold Standard new methodology for water projects requires monitoring and verification of the performance and volume of water consumed from the boreholes either through sensors or water meters.

In line with this requirement, the project plans to install 100 water meters (20x40mm and 80x50mm DI) on its Afridev handpump boreholes for collecting data on water usage. To protect the water meters from vandalism and tampering, secure steel housing boxes need to be fabricated and installed.

Therefore, this procurement aims to engage a capable contractor to provide the installation and fabrication services.
