We, Grant Thornton Consulting Limited have been retained by our client in the Health Sector in Malawi to carry out an Executive Search for suitably qualifying persons to fill the position of Planning Specialist tenable at their head office in Lilongwe. PLANNING SPECIALIST
Position Purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Manager, the Planning Specialist will facilitate the Grants Management through timely and effective grants implementation in line with clearly developed annual and six-monthly work plans against established grant implementation targets and performance indicators in accordance with the Grant Management Guidelines.
Educational Qualification and Experience
- A University degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Health Management or any related field.
- A Postgraduate qualification (Masters) in the areas of health policy, health services, health financing.
- At least 10 years experience in areas of health-related planning and experience working with international organizations.
- Knowledge of grants management requirements and policies of donors to Fight HIV, TB and Malaria would be an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Organization and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word Project and PowerPoint.

Duties and Responsibilities
Establish a Framework for grant planning processes:
- Facilitate timely internal and external planning for effective grant implementation and monitoring of the planned grants activities;
- Spearhead the development of work-plans, training plans and procurement plans and support all the relevant entities in tracking of implementation of the same for priority interventions implementation;
- Work with the implementing entities and SRs to facilitate annual, semi-annual and quarterly plans for grants implementation;
- Support staff in developing specific work plans.
- Coordinate the planning of PUDR and other routine report reviews for reporting to the donors as required;
- Coordinate the planning of all related periodic meetings including the donor country team visits;
- Ensure proper planning of all requirements for external consultants and timely handling and facilitation of consultants’ briefings and follow up on recommendations;
- Prepare relevant reports related to the planning processes, challenges and related recommendations.
- Perform any other assignments as required.
