Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a non-profit, independent international humanitarian organization committed to delivering medical aid to populations facing crises, with a steadfast commitment to impartiality and without regard to race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In Malawi, MSF collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health and the local community, particularly in the Cervical Cancer project in the Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts, as well as the CBO Project in Zalewa and Dedza District.

MSF-FRANCE is recruiting suitable candidates for the position of:

Interviewers for a health survey on household level in Blantyre city and Chiradzulu districts

Workplace                   : Blantyre and Chiradzulu

Type of contract         : Fixed term contract (6-8 weeks)

Start date                     : June 2025

Responsibilities  

  • Conduct structured health-related interviews with individuals from designated audiences
  • Apply detailed procedures for systematic data collection
  • Follow MSF survey protocols to ensure confidentiality of information
  • Ensure accurate recording of results
  • Explain the purpose of interviews and answer questions by the interviewee as needed
  • Assume other duties necessary for a successful implementation of the planned survey as per instructions of the supervisors.

Requirements

Education Degree/Diploma in Health Promotion, Education, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, or related fields
Experience
  • Experienced in conducting health-related interviews at household level
  • Experienced in community involvement activities and/or health promotion
  • Experienced in field research activities is an asset
  • Experience in field research activities is an asset
  • Work experience with NGOs in the health sector; MSF experience is an asset
Skills
  • Experienced in the use of computer tablets is a must
  • Available for the entire time of the survey (training and interview days)
  • Willing and able to work on Saturdays and Sundays during the survey time if necessary
  • Experienced in the use of using GPS devices is an asset
  • Planning & monitoring skills, people management and team work
  • Self-initiative, pro-activity, flexibility, self-motivation to participate in the survey
  • Openness and not biased in expectations of the outcome of the survey
Languages Able to speak and write English and Chichewa
Competencies Commitment to MSF Principles, Behavioural Flexibility, Stress Management, Results and Quality Orientation, Teamwork, and Service Orientation
