Ufulu Finance Limited is a locally registered micro lending financial institution which started its operations in July 2016. The company, a wholly Malawian owned, was incorporated under the companies Act 1984. It aims to provide affordable habitat solutions to Malawians of all income groups with special focus on the urban poor and middle income earners.

Ufulu Finance Ltd seeking the services of qualified, passionate, trustworthy professional to join the management team in the capacity of Finance and Administration Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, The Finance and Administration Manager has the prime responsibility of ensuring that the resources of Ufulu Finance Limited are managed in such a way as to effectively accomplish results at operational level.  The incumbent is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day financial management and reporting of the company’s financial performance, and for provision of effective support to company administration. The jobholder will work closely with the Head of Operations to ensure that all financial management and administrative activities support the company’s overall strategic performance and achievement of its objectives.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Stakeholder Management: The jobholder will be a member of the Management team and support the company in shaping strategy and planning, implementation of priorities, ensuring that the desired results are clear and that resourcing implications are fully considered. The jobholder will also support the company with administrative responsibilities.
  • Financial planning, Budgeting and Budget control: The jobholder will provide leadership for financial management in the company and ensure proper financial planning and budgeting for company resources, as well as budget controls to ensure that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently to achieve the desired results with available resources.
  • Resource mobilization: The jobholder will provide technical support to the management team and board of directors in shaping the resource mobilization strategy and support implementation of resource mobilization plans.
  • Compliance and internal controls system: The jobholder will ensure that the company implements a robust internal control system to safeguard the resources available to the company, ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and achieve value for money in utilization of resources.
  • Accounting and Financial reporting: The jobholder will ensure that the Company has proper accounting processes, systems and books of account, and provide regular financial reports and financial statements as required by the company and regulations.
  • Risk Management: The jobholder will ensure that the company has an appropriate risk management framework and ensure proper mitigations and monitoring of identified risks to minimize their impact on operations.
  • External audits: The jobholder will provide leadership in coordinating and facilitating all external audits and will support company operations to ensure that the company follows up and addresses audit recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Administration: The jobholder will support company operations with administrative tasks, including overseeing procurement and human resource management.
  • Perform other work-related ad hoc duties as may be requested by the CEO from time to time.

  • Proper record keeping (Accounts, HR, procurement, administration)

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Full professional accountancy qualification (ICAM, ACCA etc.)
  • Member of ICAM

Related Job Experience

  • 7-10 years progressive experience in financial management in the financial sector.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing financial controls and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in working in a financial regulated environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of international financial reporting standards and other accounting best practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in budgeting and forecasting for business operations.
  • Familiarity of usage of databases and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven experience to manage and engage teams for delivery of results.

Terms of Employment and Remuneration

You will sign an employment contract with the Ufulu Finance Limited and be a member of management team. The position is based at the Head Quarters in Lilongwe, Malawi. Competitive salary with comprehensive healthcare
