ACCOUNTS OFFICERS
Job Purpose
The Accounts Officers will be responsible for supporting daily financial and accounting operations of the Shops by ensuring accurate recording of transactions, maintaining proper financial records, processing payments, reconciling Bank and Cash accounts, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables and Inventories, and assisting in financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Process and record daily financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and other accounting records.
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Perform cash, bank, and petty cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Verify and process supplier invoices, staff claims, and payment requests.
- Monitor and reconcile debtors and creditors accounts regularly and follow up on outstanding balances when required.
- Ensure accurate capturing of sales, purchases, and stock-related financial transactions.
- Support stock count exercises and reconcile stock variances with accounting records.
- Ensure compliance with company financial procedures, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of receipts, deposits, and banking transactions.
- Assist in budget preparation, tracking and expenses monitoring.
- Coordinate with shop departments to ensure proper financial accountability and documentation.
- Handle confidential financial information with integrity and professionalism.
- Assist during internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information.
- Ensure all accounting activities comply with statutory and company requirements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance operations, preferably in a retail or fast paced business environment.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and record management.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and SAGE accounting software.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
