Purpose of the Job
To provide ICT support services
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Supporting the development of directorate system functional specifications
- Installing and configuring computer programmes and software and other regulatory standards
- Maintaining and repairing ICT equipment
- Monitoring and implementing effective utilization of ICT resources, equipment and accessories
- Assisting in the identification and resolution of ICT troubleshooting activities
- Providing user support services to staff
- Supporting the provision and management of systems administration
- Developing, arranging and maintaining ICT inventory
- Preparing and submitting reports
BASIC SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Good knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, configuration and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware and software faults.
- Basic knowledge of computer networking, including LANs, routers, switches and network connectivity.
- Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot operating systems, applications and peripheral devices.
- Good understanding of ICT systems administration and user account management.
- Basic knowledge of ICT security, data protection, antivirus and access-control practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate ICT asset inventories and technical records.
- Ability to provide effective user support and technical guidance to staff with different levels of ICT proficiency.
- Ability to explain technical issues in simple and understandable language.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond promptly to ICT support requests.
- Good time-management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in ICT or related field
- 2 years’ experience in laboratory work
