Purpose of the Job
To drive staff and transport goods/materials for the Council
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Driving vehicles
- Cleaning vehicles
- Maintaining vehicles to ensure that they are in good condition and roadworthy
- Carrying out minor repairs and services
- Reporting breakdowns or accidents
- Transporting goods/materials
- Refueling vehicles
- Filling log books
- Reporting breakdowns or accidents
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Excellent knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.
- Good defensive driving skills.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Ability to identify and report vehicle faults promptly.
- Good knowledge of roads and routes within Lilongwe City and surrounding areas.
- Ability to maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records.
- Good time management and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Responsible, trustworthy, and safety-conscious attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in emergencies.
Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience
- MSCE with a valid Driving License and Defensive Certificate
- One (1) year of work experience
