About Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise

Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise transforms lives across Malawi through sustainable social enterprises – running schools, businesses, a factory, farms, and a construction enterprise with a team of 500+. Among its divisions is Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Institute (MQOPCI) in Chilomoni, Blantyre – a growing Catholic educational campus spanning early years to tertiary level, including Mother Teresa Children’s Centre, St. Kizito Catholic Primary School, St Carlo Acutis Catholic High School, and St. John Paul II Catholic College.

True to its mission of inclusive education, MQOPCI reserves over 22% of places for bursary students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the organisation
  2. Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
  3. Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  4. Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
  5. Maintain effective internal control systems and financial governance frameworks
  6. Manage cash flow, treasury operations, and working capital requirements
  7. Coordinate external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings
  8. Monitor organisational performance and provide financial analysis to support decision-making
  9. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems
  10. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve high performance

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A professional accounting qualification and membership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Strong knowledge of |FRS Accounting Standards, taxation, budgeting, and financial management.
  • Proven leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience in strategic planning and organisational performance management.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence decision-making at executive level.
