BREWERY ENGINEER
Duty Station: Lilongwe
Reporting to: Head of Engineering

Role Summary

The Brewery Engineer is a senior role responsible for the overall leadership, management, and trategic direction of the brewery engineering function. The position has full accountability for the performance, reliability, and integrity of all brewery plant, machinery, utilities, and engineering infrastructure, ensuring sustained production capability and operational excellence.

The role focuses on maximising plant availability, equipment reliability, asset life cycle management, safety compliance, and cost-effective engineering operations. It involves leading and developing multidisciplinary maintenance teams, directing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and planning and delivering engineering projects in support of capacity, quality, safety, and efficiency improvements.

The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in reducing downtime, improving operational efficiency, managing utilities and energy performance, and ensuring full compliance with engineering, environmental, and statutory requirements. The Brewery Engineer is also responsible for building engineering capability within the plant, driving continuous improvement, and aligning engineering execution with the brewery’s operational and business objectives.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with supervisory responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of PCs, plant maintenance systems, and asset care practices
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
