Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Limited is seeking applications for the position of
MEDICAL OFFICER
Reporting directly to the Benefits and Compensation Manager in the HR and Administration Department, key responsibilities for the successful candidate will among other things include the following: –
Key responsibilities include: –
- Manages Occupational Health, Primary Health Care and Public Health services for Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Limited and related parties
- Undertakes day to day clinical duties and Medical Examinations at the company’s medical facility
- Provides first aid and emergency services in response to accidents happening in the workplace
- Refers medical cases to various authorized referral hospitals where necessary
- Ensures and promotes compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
- Investigates accidents on the premises & performs minor procedures where necessary
- Conducts health awareness campaigns for employees, implements and monitors wellness and related social welfare interventions
- Conducts meetings with Referral Hospitals wherever there are pertinent issues to be discussed
- Coordinates formulation of contract agreements between Alliance One Tobacco Malawi and referral hospitals
- Coordinates formulation of contract agreements with contractors concerning access to Clinic services
- Manages human resources and budgetary resources under his/her supervision
- Conducts medical risk assessments and reports on matters affecting health of people at work for purposes of mitigation.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Medical Doctor with a Degree in Medicine (MBSS) obtained from a recognized training institution
- A minimum of five years of clinical practice as a licenced Medical Practitioner (Medical Doctor), i.e. five years of which at least two years should be years of post-qualification and substantive medical practitioner appointment after supervised internship in a clinic or hospital environment
- Experience in occupational health, public health, community medicine may be desirable
- The ideal candidate will be a licenced Medical practitioner with a record of good standing
- Excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills
- Excellent computer skills (excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer packages)
- Analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills.
