
Project HOPE Namibia in Malawi (PHN-MA)
Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo Activity (ANAPA), a PEPFAR-USG funded Project implemented by Project HOPE Namibia in Malawi (PHN-MA), has recently been reevaluated and re-aligned following the US Executive Orders. The project Scope of Work (SOW) will now focus on Life-Saving HIV Service Provision for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) under Comprehensive HIV service delivery. The SOW covers the following:1) Care and treatment services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and children living with HIV (CLHIV) that directly impact clinical outcomes; 2) service to address early identification, treatment, linkage/continuity, and viral load suppression for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women and 3) Provide leadership in focused data and systems maintenance activities in support of the lifesaving service provision areas ANAPA project will continue to be implemented in nine high HIV burdened districts in Malawi (Blantyre, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba). Please take note that Project HOPE Namibia will only undertake activities within the scope of the award; and will not extend to activities related to abortion services, family planning, programs centered on gender, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) or transgender surgeries.
It is against this background that PHN-MA, seeks qualified Malawians to fill various positions for the ANAPA Activity as follows:
Driver
Reporting to: Procurement & Logistics Officer/ Finance Officer/Human Resources Officer
Duty Station: Head office (1), Blantyre (1); Mangochi (1), Machinga (1), Thyolo (1), Phalombe (1), Chikwawa (1), Mulanje (1), and Zomba (1)

Minimum Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Job Summary
Perform tasks related to driving vehicles of Ana Ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA), under Project HOPE Namibia (PHN) that are entrusted to you in a safe and economical manner, in conjunction with PHN policy and the traffic laws and regulations of Malawi.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
Transportation & Safety
- Transport PHN staff and visitors as instructed.
- Always ensure safety of passengers & luggage.
- Observe speed limits and all PHN travel guidelines.
- Always ensure use of seat belts.
- Ensure proper communication procedures.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintain vehicles allocated in sound mechanical condition.
- Ensure washing & general cleaning of vehicles is maintained
- Ensure that vehicles are fueled and serviced promptly.
- Report any faults/breakdowns & accidents immediately to Logistics Officer.
- Ensure First Aid Kits are complete and spare & tools are in allocated vehicle.
- Ensure that vehicle tools are always kept in allocated vehicle.
- Perform minor repairs as required and recommend major cases to the garage.
- Road test and certify all vehicles from the garages
Record Keeping
- Ensure that all vehicles have log sheets and pens.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records to ensure that all trips, fuel fill-ups, time and mileage readings are recorded.
- Ensure fuel fill ups entry is made in the log sheet timely.
- Ensure vehicle request forms are filled in and submitted for travel allocation to Logistics Officer.
- Submit all vehicle log sheets monthly to the Logistics Officer.
- Ensure to check vehicle on daily basis and submit check list report to Logistics Officer.
- Submit field trip report after every trip to the Logistics Officer.
- Submit vehicle repair reports to the Logistics Officer every time before and after repairs.
Delivering and receiving mail
- Prompt delivery of all mail and maintain record on delivery book, inclusive of cheques and equipment.
- Check in post office for mail on a regular basis.
- Receive mail from partners and sub-offices and hand it over to the Logistics Officer.
- Check on vehicle comprehensive, 3rd party insurance and certificate of fitness
- Ensure that vehicle comprehensive and 3rd party insurance are valid.
- Ensure that vehicle certificate of fitness is valid.
- Inform Logistics Officer 3 weeks in advance of renewals.
Minimum Qualifications, experience and required skills
- MSCE
- Valid Driving license
- Defensive driving.
- 3 Years professional Driving & some mechanical experience.
- Understanding of the Geographical area of assignment
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity.
- Ability to understand and fix minor motor vehicle mechanical problems.
- Commitment to developing and staying up to date on company policies, practices, and trends.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a challenging environment, under high pressure and ability to cope with tight deadlines.
