Ekhaya Farm Foods subsidiaries of Ekhaya Group of Companies, a fast growing retail food chain store in Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates within or outside Malawi to fill the following vacant position:

SHOP MANAGER

Tenable in Lilongwe and reporting to the Group Operations Manager

The Shop Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the shop profitably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth and efficient performance
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of retail staff to achieve sales targets and provide excellent customer service
  • Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and coordinate with suppliers
  • Ensure visual merchandising and store presentation meets brand standards
  • Drive performance through KPls, feedback, and regular performance reviews
  • Handle customer queries, complaints, and resolve issues swiftly and professionally
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming shopping environment
  • Ensure that his/her shop is at all times clean, tidy, well stocked and well-staffed – avoid over or understocking
  • Ensuring that the shop is run at optimum sales and profit levels-striving to achieve or exceed sales budget
  • Interacting with customers to learn of their requirements/experiences and settling their complaints once lodged
  • Ensuring that ordering system and policy are correctly maintained and replenish stocks in time following the “order and delivery schedule”.
  • Supervising all departments of the shop to ensure that assigned daily task are accomplished according to set standards
  • Ensuring that stocks on the shelf and freezers are in good condition and in addition to ensuring a high degree of cleaniness of all the departments.
  • Receiving, checking all deliveries into the branch and signing Goods Received Receipts (GRR) and ensuring gate register is updated immediately after delivery.
  • Chasing suppliers those who are delaying delivering stocks at the shop and also keeping awake on price updates.
  • Proving help, guidance and advice to staff, ensure you are carrying out all administrative procedures for the branch correctly and timely and liaising with the Group Human Resources Manager on matters of employees when necessary. Also, you will be responsible for staff discipline and safety.
  • Familiarize her/himself with all lines supposed to be stocked in the shop

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Administration or its related field. Those with a Diploma in Business Management with 10 years’ experience can also apply.
  • Three years’ experience in a similar leadership position
  • Strong people management and organizational skills
  • Sales-driven with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work weekends or holidays.
