Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Banking, the incumbent is responsible for growing and retaining a portfolio of high value corporate and institutional, clients by providing proactive, value adding financial and credit products and services, and business analysis, and providing business solutions on a full array of customized financial products and services tailored to meet the growth needs and potential of the clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business development
- Conduct regular market and industry research to fully understand clients’ businesses
- Identify and plan for expansion and/or additional business opportunities by developing product matrices and identifying gaps and opportunities for cross-selling.
- Market corporate products to existing and potential corporate customers.
- Cross-sell within the portfolio to improve revenue generation.
Credit risk management
- Acquire credit business from clients and process the same with Credit Risk Department
- Plan and implement annual credit reviews for the portfolio.
- Deliver credit turnaround times in line with service delivery requirements.
- Work with Credit Risk Department on credit applications e.g. balance sheets, financial statements and management accounts.
- Manage client credit facilities within the parameters set by Credit.
Client acquisition and relationship management
- Acquire new business, understand customer needs, service client relationships.
- Deliver quality and timely service delivery for clients.
- Improve utilization of asset and liability business.
- Provide clients with a full array of advisory and information service.
- Ensure processing of customer mandates/documentation requirements for financial facilities.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing or any business-related field
- 5 years’ experience at manager level in banking in general and in particular in corporate finance; credit risk management; client acquisition and relationship management;
- Strong business knowledge of credit analysis and financial statements analysis.
- Strong numerical skills and financial acumen to analyse evaluate and identify trends in financial statements, balance sheets and ratios.
- Sound understanding of cash flow cycles pertaining to the industry being analysed.
- Strong knowledge of finance software applications to capture and analyse financial data using financial modelling methods.
- Knowledge in banking practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Credit principles and practices, including an understanding of credit application, securities and balance sheet requirements.
- Critical thinking: good at probing facts, challenging assumptions, seeing disadvantages.
