JOB TITLE: Portfolio Manager (x 2)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Head: Portfolio & Business Development, the ideal candidate will focus on optimizing investment opportunities for various clients through strategic planning, market analysis, and proactive portfolio growth initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Structure investment portfolios for all clients as necessary based on client requirements and situation. This will entail drawing investment guidelines and mandates and construction of performance benchmarks according to asset channels and client mandates.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding the performance of their investment accounts, market conditions and economic trends
• Review all client portfolios annually in consultation with business development officers and recommend portfolios adjustments in line with the changes in the economic environment and changes in their personal circumstances.
• Monitoring investment risk by adjusting the mix of assets within a portfolio according to changing market conditions
• Analyze all investment avenues such as interest-bearing instruments, equity investments and alternative investments etc. with a view to professionally execute investment transactions at market or better value and
• Implement and execute agreed investment portfolios by buying the approved investments assets for client’s portfolios
• Manage the administration of funds under management as necessary by setting up standard periodic client reports and portfolio summaries. This entails a very high degree of diligence in the handling of customer records and information
• Recommend to Head: Portfolio and Business Development on credit facilities that Nominees can participate in, facilitate the approval process before placing the investments and monitor the performance of all credit facilities.
• Coordinate with money market dealers to ensure proper execution of deals, and with external brokers to purchase new stocks or bonds to add to a portfolio.
• Analyze competitor information, client needs, industry trends and requirements with a view of delivering value for money to clients
• Ensure that investment analysts and dealers implement all investment transactions in a timely and efficient manner

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 Years’ practical experience in an Investment Management institution or Financial Services Industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (A CFA
  Qualification is an advantage).
• Strong understanding of investment products and financial markets, and key stakeholder such as Malawi Stock Exchange, RBM, Stockbrokers and commercial banks.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently and within a team
