Mzuzu University Trust Fund was established under the Mzuzu University Act (No. 12 of 1997) and the Trust Deed of May 5, 1998. It is a tool and legal mechanism through which Mzuzu University can enter into business, commercial dealings and transactions with both the public and private sectors.

The Mzuzu University Trust Fund invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Truck Operator/Driver

The Truck Operator/Driver will report to the Farm Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operating tractors or motor vehicles safely and efficiently while ploughing, planting, harvesting, spraying pesticides, transporting farm produce or doing other farm operations;
  2. Inspecting tractors and attachments like graders, rollers, and plows, and ensuring they are well-lubricated;
  3. Ensuring regular maintenance and repairs of tractors and other farm implements;
  4. Reporting vehicle breakdowns or accidents by following laid down procedures;
  5. Remaining alert while driving and servicing the tractor, maintaining the appropriate speed limit at all times;
  6. Completing minor repairs on tractor and farm equipment;
  7. Maintaining Log Books for each trip or task (mileage, fuel consumption and oil changes); and
  8. Maintaining vehicle schedules of Road tax, CoF and Insurance.

Qualifications

  1. Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE);
  2. A valid driving licence (Category C1, PG);
  3. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferably in a formal organization.
  4. Candidates with a Defensive Driving Certificate will have an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  1. Excellent driving skills;
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  3. Good customer care skills; and
  4. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
