Lotus Africa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated individual to the post of Buyer at Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga.

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this role is to source products, evaluate suppliers, products, and services, negotiate purchase order terms, and ensuring that approved purchases are timely, cost-efficient and of high quality.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Functional Role:

  • Identify sources of supply, onboard and maintain valid Know Your Customer (KYC) records to ensure timely delivery of goods and services for operational requirements.
  • Procure Goods and services in accordance with submitted customer requirements following correct Request for Quotation/Tender, supplier assessment, adjudication and reward recommendation process.
  • Ensure continuous flow of materials by expediting orders and resolve supplier queries to improve cycle times.
  • Provide regular feedback to end users in all departments on Quotations, POs, and deliveries of Goods and Services requested.
  • Continuously promote competitive pricing, including sourcing alternative Suppliers and service providers
  • Reconcile or resolve Purchase Order discrepancies within agreed on cycle times for smooth Procurement & Vendor Account records.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing records, reports, and price trends.
  • Manage vendors performance and contract performance.
  • Comply with and maintain knowledge of applicable rules, legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices.

2. Relationships & Personal Growth:

  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and management.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings and task allocation sessions.
  • Attend appropriate training to develop skills.

3. Safe Healthy, Environment, Radiation and Quality (SHERQ):

  • Enforce compliance with the Mine Safety Act, Atomic Energy Act, and Lotus SHERQ standards.
  • Ensure safe handling of reagents: H2SO4, H2O2, Lime caustic and flocculants through correct sourcing and supported by Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ensure PPE compliance and source the specifications fit for purpose in accordance with the Lotus Safety guidelines.

4. Reporting and Administration:

  • Complete Purchase Requisition expediting reports, end user reports, and weekly Procurement reports.
  • Participate in standing Safety and Procurement meetings.

Qualifications/Experience:

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

  • Diploma/Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from recognized institution.
  • 1-2 years’ experience at intermediate level in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Proficient in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook).
  • Experience with ERP (Pronto) or procurement/supply chain management software.
