VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – ASSISTANT LITERACY COORDINATOR
The Bible Society of Malawi (BSM) is an inter-confessional and non-denominational organisation. Our Mandate is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and his Church through translation, publishing, distribution and to help people interact with the Word of God.
BSM is implementing a literacy project in selected parts of the Southern region of Malawi with a purpose of ensuring that people in the rural areas can read and understand the Bible on their own language. It is for this reason that the Bible Society of Malawi seeks to engage the services of an Assistant Literacy Coordinator tenable at its Blantyre office.
Purpose of the job
To provide full project implementation support to the Literacy Coordinator.
Essential Skills, knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Community Development or any other related field.
- A devoted Christian with strong belief in Jesus Christ
- Must have a valid driving licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle and a motorbike.
- Must have project reporting skill.
- Strong communication and Interpersonal skills
- Community mobilisation and advocacy skills.
- At least 3 years experience with community development work and Project management.
- Preferably those who have previously worked with internationally funded projects.
Key functions
- Assist in planning, organizing and execution of the adult literacy project activities in various communities.
- Assist in material development and training of the teachers and other stake holders.
- Project advocacy, resource management and project reporting.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Duration
One year contract with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
