VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Translator / Assistant Consultant

“JICA School for All Project” is implemented in cooperation with Ministry of Education, with the aim of improving the school environment and quality through community participation, ultimately enhancing children’s learning performance. We are currently seeking a translator/assistant consultant whose responsibilities will include translating training manuals and other relevant documents from English to the local language (mainly Chichewa), as well as providing support in organizing training sessions and meetings.

  • Location: Lilongwe (including short-term missions to Kasungu and Mzimba Districts)
  • Period: From June 2024 to March 2025 including trial period

Responsibilities:

  • Translating training materials from English to Chichewa.
  • Monitoring school-based activities and reporting to the Project.
  • Supporting logistic arrangements for project activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Preparation of payment sheets and checking financial reports for accurate record-keeping.
  • Assisting in preparing reports and meeting minutes to track project progress.
  • Maintaining and updating project information sheets with the latest data and developments.
  • Handling ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Project.

Requirements:

  • Native proficiency in Chichewa, both written and verbal.
  • Working-level proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Verbal proficiency in Tumbuka
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience, including translation of documents from English to Chichewa.
  • Proficiency in financial document preparation and record-keeping.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Experience working in the fields of education, community development or humanitarian aid is an asset

Salary Range: MWK250,000 – / month
