VACANCY
FINANCE MANAGER
Blantyre Sports Club invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position above. We are looking for a dynamic individual with good communication, interpersonal, analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to work under pressure. The person will lead the Finance Division of the Club. He or she will have excellent people skills, can achieve results by effectively managing a team of finance staff and adhere to strict
reporting deadlines. He or she will report to the General Manager and will also be working with various sub committees of the club.
Qualifications and experience
- A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, must be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) and a member of ICAM.
- At least 5 years’ experience and good technical knowledge of IFRS and tax.
- Must have sound administrative and management experience.
- Must have experience in managing multiple tasks and have the ability to compile accurate financial reports.
Duties
- Regularly review the effectiveness of the internal control and procedures.
- Working with team members in instituting and monitoring systems of internal controls in the club.
- Providing input into and participating in key committee meetings of the club.
- Participating in strategy formulation and consolidation of annual budgets.
- Participating in the preparation of annual budgets and other financial plans for the club
- Consolidating budget inputs from other departments.
- Carrying out various consultancy assignments for the company to clients and prospective clients so as to bring in new business to the company; or improve on our service delivery.
- Provision of advisory services to clients and prospective clients with the view to bringing in new business.
- Checking bank reconciliation.
- Checking payment vouchers.
- Reviewing debtors report.
- Tax planning.
- Ensuring audit schedules are prepared timely.
- Ensuring audit queries are addressed accordingly.
- Monitoring of the budget.
- Forecasting
- Mentoring and supervising departmental staff through provision of timely feedback to ensure that staff achieve highest level of professional growth and desired performance standard.
Skills and Competencies
Good knowledge of Financial Management.
Highly organized with abilities to prioritize.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a team.
Attention to detail and the ability to follow through.
Ability to work under pressure, meet multiple deadlines, troubleshoot and problem solve.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
