CARE MANAGER

The Organisation
Stephanos Foundation is a Reformed Christian faith-based international nongovernmental organisation (INGO) located in Chilangoma, Chileka, Blantyre, Malawi.

Established in Malawi in 1994 through an initiative that originated in the Netherlands, the Foundation is committed to improving the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children through various care and development programmes. Stephanos Foundation is duly registered with the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA), the NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA), and the Employers’ Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM).

The Stephanos Foundation is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals to fill the position of Care Manager.

Reporting to: Executive Director
Position Level: Senior Member

Key responsibilities

The Care Manager will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the Care Department, including:

• Coordinating and supervising the provision of quality care, protection and a safe living environment for children.
• Working closely with Host Mothers, teachers and medical personnel to address children’s health, welfare, developmental and individual needs.
• Providing counselling, guidance and appropriate support to children experiencing emotional, behavioural or other challenges.
• Ensuring appropriate discipline, personal hygiene, healthy routines, supervision and safeguarding of children.
• Organising recreational activities, outings and other programmes that promote children’s wellbeing and development.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records relating to individual children.
• Coordinating departmental planning, budgeting and implementation of activities.
• Supervising departmental staff, contributing to performance management, policy development and strategic planning.
• Representing Stephans Foundation in relevant child-care and protection forums.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or Social Work
• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably in child care, child protection, social work, or counselling.
• Demonstrable passion and commitment to children’s welfare and protection.
• Strong interpersonal, counselling, leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with children, caregivers, teachers, medical personnel and other stakeholders.
• Aged between 35 and 50 years
• Ready to relocate to the remote rural area
• Reformed Christian knowledge is an advantage
