Soils, Food and Healthy Communities (SHC) is a Malawian non-governmental organization working to build resilient and equitable communities through agroecology, food and nutrition security, gender equality, participatory research, landscape restoration, and climate resilience.
Position Summary
SFHC is seeking a motivated and committed Field Officer to support the implementation of community-based agroecological, food and nutrition security, gender equality, and climate resilience, interventions. The Field Officer will work closely with farmers, community leaders, and local stakeholders to facilitate training, monitor activities, and support project implementation at field level.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate implementation of project activities at community and household level
- Mobilize and work closely with farmers, youth, and women groups
- Support delivery of trainings, demonstrations, and farmer learning activities
- Collect field data and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- Liaise with community leaders and relevant local stakeholders
- Document field experiences, lessons learned, and success stories
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive engagement in all activities
- Perform any other duties related to field implementation as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Agriculture, Agroecology, or any related field
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in field-based community development or agricultural projects
- Experience working with smallholder farmers and rural communities
- Knowledge of agroecology, organic agriculture or permaculture is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Good report writing skills
- Ability to work independently in rural field settings
- Good interpersonal and community engagement skills
- Basic data collection and reporting skills
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote areas
- Fluency in local languages; working knowledge of English
