 Job Title :  District Engagement  and Mobilisation Associate

Supervisor Title: Program Officer

Type of ContractThree months: subject to  Renewal based on funding availability and performance.

Position Location: Nkhotakota, Machinga and Zomba

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide technical support in program delivery with focus on farmer follow up, capacity building in GAP and CSAs, support aggregation, market linkages, technology adoption and documentation and communication for effective delivery of FRT projects in line with FRT vision of providing information for sustainable livelihoods to farming communities.

KEY SCOPE

a. Farmer and Youth Mobilisation

  • Work closely with AEDOs and CAAs to track farmer and youth mobilisation.
  • Track and verify farmers and youth who have been supported by the project.
  • Collaborate with CAAs and AEDOs to track value chain aggregation with FOs and Cooperatives
  • Document volumes aggregated, sold by farmers especially the youth in the district.

Key Deliverables

  • Summary of farmer and youth mobilised by EPA.
  • Summary of farmer and youth value chains involvement by EPA.
  • Summary of value chain aggregated by EPA.
  • Summary of volumes aggregated and sold by youth by EPA.

b. Capacity building

  • In collaboration with Program Officers, AEDOs facilitate the training of CAA in GAP, CSA and entrepreneurship and link them to private sector.
  • Building skills of young women and men in GAP and CSA to increase production.
  • Facilitate linkages of young men and women to markets.
  • In collaboration with AEDOs and PO facilitate learning through demo plots
  • Support the CAAs in the training of farmers on technologies being promoted by the project.
  • Document farmers reached through various project interventions.
  • Support the youth groups and farmers in using ICTs to access information and promote digital literacy.

Key deliverables

  • Summary of CAAs in GAP and CSA by EPA.
  • Summary of young men and women trained  in GAP and CSA by EPA.
  • Summary of youth in work per EPA
  • Summary of demo plots and technology promoted.
  • Summary of technologies promoted.
  • Summary of farmer/youth engaged on digital platforms.

c. Monitoring and evaluation

  • In collaboration with Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Accountability Officer document  the farmers reached and compile reports
  • Compile and maintain FO and farmer database for value chains for the district.
  • Support collection of forms from CAAs
  • Support and coordinate the documentation/ and publication of different knowledge products including case studies, success stories, lessons learnt, good practices.

Key deliverables

  • Summary of data forms mobilised from youth and farmers per EPA.
  • Summary of FO and farmer database by value chains
  • Documentation of case studies , success stories and lessons learnt.

d. Partnership and networking

  • Collaborate with AEDOs and AEDCs and EMO in planning the weekly project activities with guidance from Program Officer

Key deliverables

  • Weekly work plans

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Development communication, Development studies, Community Development Social Sciences, Agriculture, Rural Development.
  • At least minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience in project coordination
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Aptitudes

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including farmers, youths, staff, external partners, and donors.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and with professional discretion.
  • Excellent writing, editing, grammatical, organizational, and research skills.

Other Skills

A clean motorbike license.
