Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing at CHITIPA DISTRICT COUNCIL
POST: DISABILITY AND ELDERLY OFFICER
GRADE: I/M6
LOCATION: CHITIPA DISTRICT COUNCIL
SALARY : Within The Grade Of I/M6 Salary Segment
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Social Work, Community Development obtained from accredited institutions or serving officers at Grade J serving as Senior Assistant Social Welfare Officers or Senior Assistant Community Development Officer with four (4) years’ experience at Grade J.
Duties of Post
- Provision of policy direction, guidance, over- sight, coordination, facilitation, back stopping, monitoring & evaluation
- Facilitation of mainstreaming of disability and elderly issues in public and private sector
- Promotion and protection of rights of persons with disabilities and older persons
- Conduct awareness meetings on disability and elderly rights
- Undertake visits to-places prone to disability and elderly rights abuse such as prisons, police cells, schools, hospitals and handling complaints from such institutions
- Assist in resource mobilization for the directorate
- Assist in hearing (open and closed) conflict resolution, mediation and conciliation
