THE COMPANY
Times Capital Finance (TCF) Limited is a subsidiary of The Times Group. TCF is a non-deposit taking Microfinance Institution established to provide high value financial services to low-income individuals and small businesses within Malawi. The service offering includes provision of loans and financial literacy with the long term vision of offering a full bouquet of microfinance products and services.
Times Capital Finance (TCF) Ltd is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer, tenable at its Head Office, Area 4, Off-Chilambula Road, Lilongwe.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CEO will provide strategic leadership in the development and execution of the TCF’s short to medium and long term growth strategy with a view to creating shareholder value. As a direct link between TCF’s Board and Management, the CEO will also be accountable for overall management of the microfinance Company, ensuring its financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and impact in promoting inclusive financial services. He/she will also drive innovation, manage risk, and ensure that TC serves its clients efficiently and ethically.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be expected to deliver results in the following key performance areas:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Lead, in liaison with the Board, the development and execution of CF’s short, medium and long term plans and overall strategy.
- Lead TCF’s business development efforts by identifying important areas for market innovation and lead the development of solutions that drive customer acquisition, customer retention and revenue growth.
- Monitor industry and technological trends and adapt TCF’s strategies accordingly.
2. Financial and Operations Management
- Ensure TCF’s financial health, profitability, and sustainability.
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and timely and accurate reporting to the Board on financial and operational matters.
- Develop and execute actionable operational strategies for efficient management of credit, collections, client services, and branch management to drive the profitability of the Company.
- Drive continuous improvement in client outreach, loan recovery, and financial literacy and inclusion.
3. Regulatory and Governance Compliance
- Maintain full compliance with microfinance regulations, applicable laws within Malawi, and any other compliance requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement effective internal controls and governance frameworks within Times Capital Finance Ltd.
4. People and Culture Leadership
- Establish a growth-oriented structure with clear performance metrics, succession paths, and a retention strategy for star performers.
- Recruit, train, mentor and motivate strong executive and operational teams that will enable TCF achieve its operational goals and strategy.
- Develop and maintain an entrepreneurial, results-oriented, ethical, and client-focused culture.
5. Board and Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate strong relationships with regulators, investors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and sufficient reporting to the Board of Directors in regard to TCF’s performance and key risks to enable the Board effectively exercise its oversight role over the Company.
- Represent TCF at public forums, industry events, and engagements with the media.
THE PERSON
The ideal candidate should have proven track record, at senior level, in the micro-finance, banking or financial services sector in general. Furthermore, he/she MUSI meet the following requirements:
- Educated to a Master’s Degree level in the following: Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or any relevant field.
- Hold professional qualifications in banking, finance, accounting or related fields.
- Proven success in strategy development and implementation, financial management, and people leadership.
- Superior knowledge of the business, financial and social-economic environment within Malawi.
Superior knowledge of regulatory frameworks of the industry within Malawi. - Superior decision-making skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High integrity and commitment to ethical conduct.
- Familiarity with digitalization trends within the Microfinance industry.
