VACANCY: TRUSTEE
The Samaritan Trust is a nonprofit-making, Malawian Non-Governmental Organization established in 1993 by the late Jervase Chakumodzi to address the challenges faced by street-connected children in Malawi. We provide essential services, safe spaces, education, and advocacy to empower these children towards a brighter future.
Our trustees are volunteers drawn from a variety of professional backgrounds within the corporate sector, bringing a wealth of expertise and perspectives to the governance of the Trust.
Role Summary
As a Trustee, you will guide the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring good governance, financial oversight, policy development, and advocacy. You will work with fellow board members to uphold the mission, strengthen institutional systems, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Trust adheres to its mission, values, and legal obligations Contribute to strategic planning and monitoring of impact Oversee financial management to ensure sustainability
- Promote the Trust’s work and build partnerships locally and internationally
- Shape policies that improve the welfare of street-connected children.
Qualifications, Essential Skills & Attributes
- Experience in one or more of the following: Finance & Accounting; Legal & Governance; Fundraising & Development; Marketing & Communications; Social Services; Education; Child Welfare
- Commitment to the empowerment of vulnerable and marginalized children
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively at board level and engage diverse stakeholders
- Integrity, accountability, and willingness to commit time and expertise.
