Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Accountant located in Lilongwe. The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, handling accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting budgeting and financial planning processes. Day-to-day tasks include reconciling bank statements, processing invoices, preparing tax returns, and assisting with audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial statement preparation: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Asset and Tax Management. Maintain the fixed asset register and coordinate annual asset verifications. Income tax computations and review of VAT returns.
• Accounting and bookkeeping: Maintain and reconcile financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
• Financial analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
• Budgeting and forecasting: Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Compliance and reporting: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, laws, and standards, and prepare reports for management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• Treasury and Cash Flow Management. Receipting of collections. Preparation of bank reconciliations. Preparation of monthly cash flows and forecasts of the Company.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
• Proficiency in SAGE accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Studying towards ACCA, ICAM qualification
• Registered with Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM)
• Experience in the telecommunications industry is an advantage
• At least three years’ experience in a similar role
