Recruitment of Local Directors on Affidavit
The Development Fund (DF) of Norway https://www.utviklingsfondet. no/en is a Norwegian International Non-Governmental Organization working with smallholder marginalized people in rural communities to end hunger, poverty, and injustice by strengthening climate adaptation, agrobiodiversity, and sustainable food systems. The organization’s overarching goal is to enable small scale agriculture communities to become resilient and part of sustainable food systems. The Development Fund has a Country Office located in Lilongwe.
DF is seeking two well-qualified and experienced persons to serve as its local directors.
Main Role
The local directors will play an advisory role and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
Terms and Conditions
- DF’s local Directors on Affidavit will serve a two-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term.
- Serving DF as a director on affidavit is without remuneration, except for local travel related expenses in relation to Board Members’ duties.

Selected directors on affidavit will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sectors.
Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Minimum of a Degree from reputable Universities in any of the following fields; Social and Development Studies, International Relations, Monitoring and Evaluation, Law, Political Science and Governance, Marketing, Leadership Management, Human Resources.
- Experience in corporate governance, Malawian context.
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
- A commitment to and understanding of DF’s target group, preferably based on experience.
- Sawy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of DF’s target group.
