African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC)

Preamble

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) is a nongovernmental organization whose main mandate is to promote the role of businesses in building resilient communities and sustainable businesses through partnerships. Since its establishment, AICC’s mandate has expanded to stimulating and supporting private sector investment in the Malawian agricultural and rural markets with a specific focus on the lower end of these markets.

Its operations are national in scope and stretches across the agriculture sector and the organization works primarily with those partners in the sector that are committed to engaging the rural poor as their beneficiaries, suppliers and consumers. AICC aims at addressing systems and institutions that can drive competitiveness and job creation in specific sectors by using a market development approach. The interventions by the organization build on private sector development strategies that seek to strengthen enterprises, business relationships & services, market structures, and the business environment so that they channel more benefits to the poor and create more and better jobs effectively. Since its inception, AICC has developed and continue to host the Cotton, Rice, Legumes, Beef and Sesame Value Chains.

The organization is seeking experienced professionals to contribute their high level of expertise to the organization and the program through the following position:

FIELD OFFICER (2 Positions)

Reporting to: Project Manager

Location : Balaka & Salima

The Field officer will provide support and create a balance in the time and scope of implementing projects at community level under the direct supervision of the Project Manager within the organization.

Position responsibilities (key responsibilities)

The Field Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Undertake Resource Mobilization Activities through Proposal Development and other means of generating resources for the organization
  • Develop from time to time, Project Briefs, Summaries, updates and analysis
  • Conduct community mobilisation/sensitization, to ensure support for, and participation in the AICC platforms by community beneficiaries, leaders, other partners, communities especially women and the youth
  • Prepare work plans/work schedules for all planned activities and ensure these are submitted to project officers for approval as per agreed overall work plan.
  • Keep updated attendance registers of training sessions, women and Youth attending activities, and all outreach activities
  • Conduct community mobilisation and sensitisation programmes, to ensure maximum participation of women and young people and the communities Work with Platform project officers to sensitise the stakeholders and the target communities about the Work with other stakeholders, local community leaders and other community stakeholders to identify and address issues affecting project delivery
  • Collect and collate/compile monthly, quarterly or any reports and data required information relating to the programme and submit this to the project officer in time Build and maintain positive working relations with local development partners in support of Cotton, Sesame, Legumes and Rice programmes in the assigned project area
  • Network with other key partners – NGOs, CBOs, Government departments and key community members at district levels to ensure that the programme is fully supported at community level.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Social Sciences or any Development Related field
  • Experience in mobilizing communities, community leaders and young people to participate in programmes Strong facilitation skills, Good report writing skills
  • Knowledge and familiarity with data collection tools and techniques
  • Experience of budgeting and handling finances to deliver project activities
  • Strong problem solving skills appropriate for community partners
  • Computer literacy; (word, excel, power point, web and outlook)
  • Ability to motivate and support young people
  • An ability to plan/schedule work activities independently, with minimum supervision
