FINANCE OFFICER NF6
Reporting to Senior Finance Officer and responsible for the Assistant Finance Officer.
Job Purpose
The Zone Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the zone by ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions, maintaining proper financial records, and adhering to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
The role contributes to effective cash flow management, budget monitoring, and financial reporting, thereby enabling sound financial decision-making and operational efficiency at both zonal and branch levels.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support cash flow management by preparing forecasts, managing petty cash, and performing timely bank reconciliations to ensure liquidity at all levels.
- Process, verify, and accurately capture approved payment vouchers and journal entries in the accounting system, adhering to internal controls and financial policies.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date accounting records in compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and organizational financial procedures.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in line with international
- Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to support internal and external reporting needs.
- Assist in coordinating internal and external audits by compiling required documentation and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Participate in the budgeting process by collecting data, preparing budget inputs, and conducting variance analysis to support effective budget monitoring.
- Perform cost analysis and contribute to identifying areas for financial efficiency, recommending and supporting the implementation of cost-saving measures.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and support enforcement of cost control measures to ensure prudent use of organizational resources
- Prepare periodic financial reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance for decision-making by management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 1 year relevant work experience in financial accounting roles.
