The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF) is a government owned Microfinance Institution whose mission is to economically empower ordinary and underserved Malawian (particularly women, youth, and persons with disability) through the provision of quality, affordable and sustainable microfinance services for Improved.

Information Officer (NF6)

The position is tenable at NEEF Head Quarters
Reporting to : Chief Public Relations Officer

Job Purpose

To ensure that corporate information about NEEF is properly managed and proactively disclosed to the public to promote transparency and accountability, thereby contributing to the fight against corruption and improved service delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishing processes and procedures for handling obligations under the ATI
  • Developing and reviewing records management plans, systems, policies, strategies and regulations
  • Managing implementation of records management plans, policies, strategies, systems, and regulations for the Fund
  • Handling requests for information within a prescribed time frame.
  • Facilitating publication of information in the custody of the information holder that is required to be proactively disclosed.
  • Collaborating with designated offices to ensure that information is accessible.
  • Maintaining an active website with regular updates
  • Managing digitization of records in custody of Information Officer in the manner prescribed by the Act.
  • Developing informational manual and uploading them on the website and publishing in the media and other communication channels to ensure wide circulation.
  • Publishing annual progress report summary and a work plan within specified timelines
  • Monitoring and addressing complex and/or sensitive enquiries and issues, including those that are escalated, to ensure the timely and effective resolution of issues
  • Organizing training on records management and use, and access to information.
  • Processing, preserving and managing disposition of official records

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Communication, Public Relations, Library and Information Sciences or related field obtained from institution accredited by NCHE.
  • 1 year relevant experience in corporate communication, public relations or related areas.
