Job Title          : Project Officer

Location         :Kasungu, Malawi, with frequent travel to Lilongwe

Reporting to : Operations and Research Manager

Type of Role : Full time (minimum of 8 months)

To start            : 1st September, 2025

Overview

The Project Officer shall assist in the day-to-day implementation of Neotree across existing hospital sites and support setting up of new sites in Kasungu District. The project officer will work closely with the clinical staff across all Neotree sites in Malawi and the implementation team within GHII. The project officer will support program implementation, and delivery of research and public engagement activities.

 Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project Setup and Implementation

  • Support the setup of Neotree systems in new implementation sites, including hospitals and primary health centers (PHCs).
  • Assist Implementation Technical and Clinical Leads with conducting facility-based training, needs assessments and preparing sites for rollout.
  • Help install and configure the Neotree application and related hardware.
  • Provide on-site support during initial implementation phases to ensure smooth adoption and functionality.

2. Site Support and Troubleshooting

  • Serve as the first point of contact for healthcare worker feedback regarding Neotree usage, and share insights with the implementation team.
  • Monitor daily use of Neotree in active sites and address operational issues promptly.
  • Support retrospective data entry and data reconciliation with physical records when necessary.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to Neotree sites to assess compliance with project protocols and performance standards.
  • Document lessons learned and challenges from implementation activities.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports on project progress, data trends, and site status.

4. Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Maintain productive relationships with hospital staff, partners, and local stakeholders to facilitate implementation.
  • Assist in coordinating the development, procurement and distribution of Neotree-related supplies and materials.
  • Support planning and execution of public engagement and community sensitization activities.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in health program implementation or support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical and technical teams.
  • Basic proficiency with digital tools and mobile technology (Android, tablets).
  • Willingness to travel to implementation sites across Malawi when the need arises.

Desirable:

  • Experience in newborn or maternal health programs.
  • Knowledge of digital health systems or tools (e.g., Neotree, DHIS2).
  • Familiarity with data collection and reporting processes in healthcare settings.

  • Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to build rapport with healthcare workers, stakeholders, and team members to foster collaboration and address feedback effectively.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in dynamic environments, traveling frequently, and adjusting to challenges in new or existing health facilities.
  • Problem-solving orientation: Capacity to identify operational hurdles (e.g., technical glitches, training gaps) and propose practical solutions.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to manage logistics, monitor multiple sites, and deliver timely reports while maintaining attention to detail.
