Post: Senior Legal Counsel
Grade: NA7
Responsible to: Principal Legal Counsel
Purpose of the job
To provide expert legal advice and support to Members of Parliament (MPs), Parliamentary Committees, and the Parliamentary Service.
Duties
- Prepares assent copies of Bills passed by the National Assembly;
- Conducts legal research and provides legal opinions to the National Assembly, the Parliamentary Service Commission and the Parliamentary Service;
- Assists in conducting Bill Analysis;
- Conducts litigation on behalf of Parliament
- Assists in the preparation and reporting of annual workplan and budge for the Legal Services Division; and
- Carries out research on legal issues pertinent to the operation of the legal division.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Law Degree (LL. B Hons) and admitted to practice in Malawi; and at least two (2) years’ work experience as a legal practitioner.
Qualifications and experience
Malawi School Certificate of Education with at least one (1) years’ work experience customer-facing or ushering or messengerial role.
