Position: Operations and Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Nkhotakota

Workforce Recruitment Services seeks to recruit for the following position on behalf of a Client.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of Power plants through supervision of Service Contractors, Maintenance Technicians and Dispatch Technicians.
• Prepare scheduled maintenance programs for all plants (Both under service contracts) and others in consultation with OM.
• Preparation of timely maintenance and operation reports to OM.
• Ensure safety of staff and equipment working under him/her.
• Participate in procurement planning and inventory management of plant materials.
• Enhance plant efficiency by proposing necessary changes/design to systems for improvement and effective operation.
• Coordinates with Plant Manager for the purpose of completing projects/work requirements efficiently assigns and schedules such tasks to respective teams.
• Inspects plant facilities, systems, and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs and ensuring that the plant is in order as per standards.
• Oversees the maintenance and replacement of tools and equipment (e.g., construction equipment, hand tools, power tools, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering/ /Higher National Diploma (Malawi) or equivalent from a recognized institution in either: Electrical Power, Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Production
• Minimum of five years in supervisory level or similar position preferably in a power/Solar plant;
• Certified grid operators by ESCOM will have an added advantage.
• Ability to analyze/interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics schematics and process flow charts.
• Thorough understanding of operations and maintenance of:  Malawi Electrical Grid layout, up to 33/132Kv  Diesel generators of up to 250 KVA.
• High voltage power transformers, circuit breakers and isolators and associated auxiliaries and protection systems.
• Distribution control (DCS) and PLC control systems.
• Functions of SCADA system
• Quality and environmental management system.
• Finance, budgeting, and control of resources.
• ERP systems for operations and maintenance of plants
