Position: Operations & Maintenance Technician
Location: Nkhotakota
Workforce Recruitment Services seeks to recruit for the following position on behalf of a Client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyse, prepare, and send solar data to ESCOM to enable them to dispatch power instructions to Serengeti Solar plant
- Execute dispatch of power instruction as requested by ESCOM
- Conduct monthly reading of bulk energy meters and sending to Serengeti finance office.
- Conduct operation of 11/66KV substation and its associated auxiliaries Monitor, operate, and control static power converters.
- Monitor and control solar PV SCADA system for the purpose of control of subsystems output maintain, repair, and install plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities.
- Carry out routine analysis and scheduled maintenance of static and rotating plant/equipment at site or as assigned.
- Maintain proper records of plant function readings and equipment history; maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules.
- Assist the O&M supervisor in preparation of scheduled maintenance programs across the Plant.
- Work with O&M supervisor to prepare timely monthly and annual reports of operation and maintenance of the plant.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning plant equipment.
- Maintain, repair and overhaul treatment plant equipment as required.
- Participate in and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Ensure and adhere to safe work practices and procedures as per defined rules and regulations.
- Supervise junior staff assigned to work with him/her and ensure safety of staff and equipment.
- Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time to conform with dispatch instructions.
Qualifications:
- Be a holder of National / Higher Diploma or Batchelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Renewable Energy.
- Minimum of three years working experience in a grid connected power system control room/dispatch centre or similar work environment.
- Be conversant in function, and operation of electrical Grid system. (Grid code).
- Thorough understanding of operations and maintenance of:
- SCADA Systems
- Auxiliary supply stems in a power station
- Electrical Grid/Substation relays and protection systems
- Vacuum, Air and SF6 Circuit Breakers
