Position : Horticulturist
Location : Kasungu

Overview:

Reporting to the Directors and the Farm Manager, the Horticulturist will be responsible for overseeing and improving the growth of quality food plants,

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking environmental assessments
• Develop landscaping plans and landscaping
• Organizing horticultural trials
• Pest and disease control
• Developing new products
• Looking for diseases in plants
• Maintain plant inventories
• Offering solutions involving biological control measures
• Plant identification
• Preparing information on plants
• Creating advisory leaflets and reports
• Creating and cultivating gardens
• Growing specific plants
• Handling seeds and cuttings for propagation
• Maintain greenhouses

Qualifications and Experience required

• Minimum of a Diploma in Horticultural Sciences and Landscape Design. Those with Bachelor’s in Horticultural
  Sciences and Landscape Design or other related qualifications will have an added advantage.
• Proven 3-5 years’ work experience preferred.

Desirable skills

• Sound knowledge of Horticulture
• Must be honest.
• A high quality of English language verbal and written communication skills is a must.
• Good organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, hands-on on and ready to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Training on the Job.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
