Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Ltd is seeking applications for the position of:
ENGINEERING SHIFT CONTROLLER – MECHANICAL
The successful applicant will be reporting to the Engineering Manager. The functions of position covers engineering shift activities in the main factory, boiler and utilities areas, hand stemming plant and warehouses.
Key responsibilities include: –
- Plans shift resources to ensure adequate coverage of various engineering functions for timely response to incidences
- Ensures breakdown maintenances are well supervised as and when they occur irrespective of engineering discipline, while utilising acceptable technical solutions and resources
- Analyses frequent breakdowns and plans for improvement engineering solutions to prevent reoccurrence of the breakdowns
- Ensures equipment condition inspections are carried out as stipulated in SAP or in OEM manuals, and plans for preventive maintenance schedules
- Plans and coordinates annual offseason maintenance to improve plant availability
- Support engineering budget control by approving necessary spares requisitions and orders
- Involved in supervision of improvement projects in response to production requirements
- Oversees housekeeping in all workplaces, equipment and personnel safety
- Carries out periodic performance management appraisals to identify skills levels for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered with Malawi Engineering Institution (MEl)
- Must have minimum 3 to 4 years experience in a busy manufacturing set up at a very senior supervisory level
- Knowledge of SAP system and project management will be an added advantage.
